Sensex, Nifty end flat ahead of GDP data | Stock Cash Market Tips



The Sensex ended up 17.47 points at 26145.67 and the Nifty slipped 7.45 points at 7935.25. About 1620 shares have advanced, 1085 shares declined, and 209 shares are unchanged. 


Bajaj Auto, M&M, Infosys, Tata Motors and ICICI Bank were top gainers while Bharti Airtel, NTPC, Vedanta, Coal India and Sun Pharma were losers in the Sensex.

Stock Market: The market has opened flat as the Sensex is down 5.40 points 26122.80. The Nifty is down 2.70 points at 7940.00. About 491 shares have advanced, 143 shares declined, and 77 shares are unchanged.

Stocks: Dr Reddy's Labs, BHEL, Tata Motors, HDFC Bank and M&M are top gainers while HDFC, Sun Pharma, ONGC, Cipla and Lupin are amogn losers in the Sensex.

Rupee/Dollar: The Indian rupee has opened marginally lower at 66.78 per dollar on Monday compared to 66.76 a dollar in previous trading session.
On the downside, the rupee could dip to 66.65-66.70 a dollar where demand from importers should come in. 

The dollar hit an eight-month high against a basket of currencies as speculation the Swiss National Bank could follow the ECB in cutting deposit rates further pushed major competitors lower.

Chinese equities opened higher on Monday, following their worst weekly performance last week since August. Elsewhere, other Asian equities traded mostly in the red, on the back of a mixed close from Wall Street last week.

US stocks
closed mixed on Friday due to a 3 percent decline in oil prices. Oil tumbled USD 1.33, or 3.09 percent, to USD 41.71 a barrel as the dollar index, which hit a fresh eight-month high, added additional pressure to an oversupplied market.


The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 15 points, or 0.08 percent, lower at 17,798.5 while the S&P 500 was up by 1.24 points, or 0.06 percent, to 2,090. The Nasdaq was up 11.4 points, or 0.22 percent, at 5,128.

The Indian equity market on Monday is likely to open in the red today with the SGX Nifty trading at 7947.50, down 17.50 points at 7:44am.

Global markets
, meanwhile, are mixed with the Chinese equities opened higher, following their worst weekly performance last week since August. Other Asian equities traded mostly in the red, on the back of a mixed close from Wall Street last week.

Sensex ends up 170 pts: Stock Cash Market Latest News with Equity Tips

Market ended higher even though China jitters send shocks. The "Sensex" was up 169.57 points or 0.6 percent at 26128.20. 
"Nifty" was up 58.90 points or 0.7 percent at 7942.70. About 1379 shares advanced, 1252 shares declined, and 238 shares were unchanged.

Stocks
: Hindalco, SBI, ICICI Bank, Vedanta and L&T are top gainers while GAIL, Reliance, Bajaj Auto, Maruti and Lupin are among losers.
