benchmarks closed higher with the Sensex rising 195.42 points or 0.76 percent
to 26034.13. The NSE Nifty ended above 7900-mark, up 64.10 points or 0.82
percent to 7925.15. About 1538 shares advanced against 1149 declining shares on
the BSE.
NTPC, Dr Reddy's Labs, Sun Pharma, Tata Motors and ONGC topped buying list on
Sensex and Nifty, up 2-4 percent while Tata Steel plunged 3.5 percent and
Bharti Airtel was down over 2 percent. M&M, BHEL, GAIL, ACC and Idea
Cellular declined 0.5-1 percent.
