Nifty shuts above 7000 mark: Stock Market Closing News

Indices snapped a three-day losing streak led by gains in the banking, capital goods, FMCG, realty and power stocks. Economic Survey said the government will likely meet its FY16 fiscal deficit target of 3.9%, while at the same time it also indicated that India’s long run potential GDP growth is substantial, about 8 to 10%. RBI announced a $1.75 billion bond purchase and said it would not allow debt issued by state governments as part of a bailout scheme for power companies to hit markets.

Finally BSE Sensex ended with a gain of 178 points at 23,154. The BSE Sensex opened at 23,141, touched an intra-day high of 23,228 and low of 23,022.


The NSE Nifty closed with a gain of 59 points at 7,030. The NSE Nifty opened at 7,039 hitting a high of 7,053 and low of 6,985.

Andhra Bank to consider preferential allotment of share capital to LIC


Andhra Bank has informed the BSE that a meeting of the Board of Directors meet of the bank will be held on February 26, 2016 to consider preferential allotment of share capital to LIC of India, subject to necessary statutory approvals.

Andhra Bank is currently trading at Rs. 46.75, down by Rs. 0.15 or 0.32% from its previous closing of Rs. 46.9 on the BSE.

The stock is currently trading above its 200 DMA.

Nifty opens Mar series above 7000, Sensex up 200 pts; USL zooms

The market started off March series on a strong note with the Nifty reclaiming 7050 level, led by short covering in beaten down stocks in previous three consecutive sessions.

The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 235.66 points or 1.03 percent to 23211.66 and the 50-share NSE Nifty climbed 78.55 points or 1.13 percent to 7049.15. 

Hindalco Industries, Adani Ports, Larsen & Toubro, SBI, Tata Motors, Vedanta, Cairn India, Power Grid Corp and Bank of Baroda gained 2-3 percent while ICICI Bank declined. 

United Spirits rallied 6 percent after Vijay Mallya resigned as chairman of the company. MK Sharma, currently an independent, non-executive director, and chairman of the audit committee, is appointed as chairman of the company. Additionally, the stock is also added in NSE F&O segment.   

The Indian rupee has opened marginally lower at 68.73 per dollar today versus 68.71 Thursday.

Ahead of F&O expiry, Sensex, Nifty fall over 1.2%


Finally BSE Sensex ended with a loss of 321 points at 23,089. The BSE Sensex opened at 23,333, touched an intra-day high of 23,339 and low of 23,057.

The Indian stock market remain under pressure on sustained capital outflows by foreign funds and selling by retail investors amid weak Asian cues. Investors remained on sidelines ahead of the derivatives expiry and the Railway Budget on Thursday. Falling crude oil prices and weak global markets also dampened the domestic sentiment.


The NSE Nifty closed with a loss of 91 points at 7,019. The NSE Nifty opened at 7,075 hitting a high of 7,091 and low of 7,010. The losses in metal, pharma, industrial, capital goods, auto, power and banking counters weighed on the index.

On the global front, China's Shanghai Composite index closed up by 0.9% and Hang Seng closed down 1.2%.

European stocks fell for a second straight session as prices of copper and crude oil slipped. The FTSE 100 trading down 1.3%. On the other hand, DAX and the CAC 40 were trading slipped over 1.5% each.

Offer for sale sails through! NTPC down 2.7%


NTPC tumbled 2.7% to Rs.120.75 on BSE. The stock fell for the second consecutive session.  With Life Insurance Corporation having subscribed to around 41% of NTPC’s issue of shares on Tuesday, the power producer’s offer for sale sailed through attracting a total subscription of 1.8 times.

The government proposes to divest 5% of its stake in NTPC by tendering around 41.2 crore shares at a floor price of Rs 122 per share, a stock exchange filing by NTPC said.

The scrip opened at Rs. 121.9 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 121.9 and Rs. 120.4 respectively. So far 1169769(NSE+BSE) shares were traded on the counter. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 102161.25 crore.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 164.7 on 12-Mar-2015 and a 52 week low of Rs. 107.2 on 25-Aug-2015. Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 130.65 and Rs. 122.6 respectively.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 74.96 % while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 22.77 % and 2.28 % respectively.

The stock is currently trading above its 50 DMA.

The Indian rupee tumbled by 8 paise at 68.65/$ on Wednesday against previous close of 68.57/$.

Nifty ends near 7250 mark: Equity Market Closing News

The Indian equity market has rallied for the fourth consecutive sessions. Finally BSE Sensex ended with a gain of 80 points at 23,789. The BSE Sensex opened at 23,783, touched an intra-day high of 23,855 and low of 23,675.
 
The NSE Nifty closed with a gain of 25 points at 7,236. The NSE Nifty opened at 7,209 hitting a high of 7,252 and low of 7,201.

The India VIX (Volatility) index was up 1.02% to 21.1300. In broader market with the benchmark indices with the BSE midcap and smallcap indices closed higher.
 
HUL, BOSCH, UltraTech Cement, ZEEL, Sun Pharmaceuticals, RIL, Dr.Reddy's, Asian Paints, Grasim  Industries and ONGC were among the gainers on NSE, whereas Tech Mahindra, NTPC, GAIL, ITC, Maruti Suzuki, Adani Ports and Power Grid were among the losers today.

Important Stock Market News: SITI Cable jumps 2.5%

SITI Cable Network jumped 2.5% to Rs.35.10 on BSE. SITI Cable Network, an Essel Group Company has received fresh promoter funding amounting to Rs 530 crore. As part of this Rs. 530 crore capitalization, SITI Cable board allotted 8.57 crore equity shares to promoter group entities. With this, total promoter holdings in SITI Cable has now increased to 69.8%.  In addition, 5.71 crore warrants and 5.1 crore Optionally Fully Convertible Debentures (OFCD) were also issued to promoter group companies.
 
The scrip opened at Rs. 36 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 36.8 and Rs. 35.15 respectively. So far 291862(NSE+BSE) shares were traded on the counter. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 2320.89 crore.

Nifty shuts above 7,200: Stock Market Closing News Updates

The BSE Sensex opened at 23,640, touched an intra-day high of 23,774 and low of 23,508. It finally ended with a gain of 60 points at 23,709.
 
The NSE Nifty opened at 7,171 hitting a high of 7,227 and low of 7,146, before ending with a gain of 19 points at 7,211.

The India VIX (Volatility) index was down 2.65% to 20.9150. In broader market with the benchmark indices with the BSE midcap and smallcap indices closed on a mixed note.

On the global front, China's Shanghai Composite index and Hang Seng closed down.

PNB, Hero MotoCorp, SBI, Bosch, Tech Mahindra, Asian Paints, Bajaj-Auto, NTPC and UltraTech Cement were among the gainers on NSE, whereas BPCL, BHEL, Maruti Suzuki, Coal India, Vedanta, Dr.Reddy's, Axis Bank and HDFC were among the losers today.

Out of 1,790 stocks traded on the NSE, 705 declined and 825 advanced today.

A total of four stock registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 50 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

HDFC Bank carrying out modifications to $1.2 bn Bahrain bonds

S&P lowered its long and short term foreign and local currency sovereign credit ratings on the Kingdom of Bahrain to BB/B (stable) from BBB-/A3 (negative).


HDFC Bank Ltd has informed BSE that the bank has outstanding bonds totaling to approximately USD 1.20 bn issued from Bahrain branch.
